The flag carrier plans to double its destinations from 70 to more than 140 within five years

Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) intends to increase its fleet from 188 to 300 aircraft by the end of 2032, director general Ibrahim Al-Omar told Socrates, an Arabic language podcast.

Saudia ordered 105 aircraft from Airbus in May, with the first batch due for delivery in early 2026.

Additionally, the Saudi flag carrier plans to double its portfolio of destinations from 70 to more than 140 within five years.

This expansion will be bolstered by the kingdom’s hosting of key global events, such as Expo 2030 and FIFA World Cup 2034.

Al-Omar said the airline will take delivery of 191 aircraft by the end of 2032, starting from the end of 2025. The acquisition of these aircraft will be financed through bank loans, and many will be re-sold and re-leased. The leased aircraft account for 40 percent of Saudia’s fleet.

Al-Omar said Saudia does not receive special government support and purchases fuel at the same prices as its competitors in the local market.

As part of its development plan, Saudia will launch a programme to replace 15,000 aircraft seats starting at the end of 2025, with completion expected by the end of 2027.

The airline is also set to introduce a premium economy class, featuring larger and more comfortable seats, the podcast said.
