NMDC Energy, an engineering, procurement and construction contractor for energy projects, has won a subsea gas pipeline and power project contract from the state-owned Taiwan Power Company (Taipower) valued at $1.14 billion.

The wholly-owned energy subsidiary of NMDC Group will design, construct and install marine pipelines extending between Taichung and Tung-Hsiao on Taiwan’s west coast.

Additionally, it will execute works to connect the pipeline between the shore and the offshore area and carry out dredging operations of six million cubic metres, NMDC Energy, which trades on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange, said in a statement on Thursday.

The company, in collaboration with NMDC Dredging & Marin, will undertake onshore engineering, construction and dredging works for the second-phase renewal project of the Tung-Hsiao Power Plant in Taiwan.

The EPC contractor has executed more than 1,200 projects and has a backlog of AED54 billion as of June 2024.

NMDC Energy intends to expand across its existing markets through acquisitions, with plans for Africa, India and Southeast Asia.
