The project will be one of Europe’s largest energy storage facilities, Daily Sabah newspaper reported, citing Progresiva’s vice president, Cevdet Yılmaz. He said the initial phase, which will cost $375 million, is already underway, with $300 million secured from China through Habin Electric. The 1,000 MWh storage facility’s investment is estimated between $350 million and $375 million, while the 250 MW wind farm will require $250 million. Habin Electric will be the main contractor for the project’s engineering, construction and procurement, the report said. Kontrolmatik will handle electrical works, with its subsidiary Pomega as a subcontractor to purchase batteries. The storage facility in Tekirdağ, north Marmara region in Turkey, will be commissioned in 2025, followed by the wind farm in 2027.
