The Omani government reportedly plans to create 45,000 job opportunities in 2025.

The jobs include 11,000 positions for training and qualification, 10,000 in government offices and 24,000 in the private sector, the Oman Daily Observer reported, citing labour minister Dr Mahad bin Said Baowain.

The ministry is focusing on providing work-related training and wage subsidies for small and medium enterprises, he said.

The top priority is to localise leadership roles, Baowain said.

Under this initiative, 2,800 mid-level and executive positions have been Omanised across industrial zones, in partnership with the state-owned Public Establishment for Industrial Estates.

Unemployment in Oman rose to 4.7 percent in September, coinciding with approximately 80,000 graduates entering the job market, Saleh Al-Shaibany, CEO of AlSafa Press & Publishing, wrote in AGBI.

In response, the government is stepping up efforts to attract both international and domestic tourists to help build livelihoods, he said.
