The Environment Agency Abu Dhabi (EAD) has launched a public tender for the construction of an underwater marine museum.

The project scope includes construction, production, transportation, installation and handover of the museum elements, according to the pre-specified design.

It will also require the fabrication and transportation of museum components, along with site preparation of the seabed, according to the tender details.

EAD is seeking a single bidder with experience in similar projects and a team of qualified professionals, including marine, structural and civil engineers, technical diving teams, quantity surveyors and planning engineers.

The contractor will also be responsible for a defect liability period following completion.

Further details on the museum’s design, purpose, and timeline have not been disclosed.

The tender closes on January 15.

Grand plans

Abu Dhabi is overseeing more than 600 infrastructure projects valued at more than AED200 billion ($54 billion), a senior official said in November.

Acting director general of the Abu Dhabi Projects and Infrastructure Centre, Maysarah Eid, said the UAE capital is relying heavily on public-private partnerships (PPPs) to execute its agenda and achieve its ambitious development goals and diversify the economies away from a reliance on oil revenues.

The programme aims to transform Abu Dhabi’s housing, transport and tourism sectors, offering lucrative opportunities for investors and construction companies.
